Richmond Community Kitchen is great in so many ways.
For one, they offer locally-sourced, pre-prepared meals that you can pick up and toss in the oven at home for a quick, nutritious meal. They allow for curbside pick-up and local delivery.
For two, they offer their kitchen space to anyone who may need it. Whether it be a catering business or a food truck, their kitchen is available to rent for those who need to use it. They also allow people to use their space for birthdays, bridal showers, or other events that need a space. What an amazing way to support others in the community.
For three, they offer classes on just about anything. From pastries to Thai food to pastas, they bring in experts to teach a small class their knowledge. We have attended quite a few and all have been great, informative, and delicious! Since COVID-19, they have not been able to offer these classes, but we hope that they will be able to in the future when a new normal is safe and established.
On May 23, 2019, we attended a Thai Rolls and Sauces class. This class was led by Kiki Seibert, who taught us how to make fresh Thai spring rolls as well as some fried rolls. We made a peanut sauce and a tangy sweet and sour sauce.
On October 24, 2019, we attended a Pad Thai class that was also led by Kiki Seibert. We created a really delicious tofu pad thai with tamarind, carrots, red onion, bean sprouts, rice noodles, peanuts, scallions, garlic, and many Thai spices.
On July 10, 2019, we attended a Mediterranean Flavors class, where we learned how to make various Mediterranean dishes. Sorry, we had so much fun that we forgot to take pictures!
On August 1, 2019, they held a class called “Crafting the Perfect Chocolate Eclair”. The results were pillowy, airy, slightly crispy, slightly doughy, rich, cream-filled, chocolate-covered pastries that you really could only eat one despite how amazing they were.
So if you’re looking to support an amazing women-owned company who supports their community and really does make the world a better place – not only through delicious food, but through cultivating an amazing atmosphere and environment centered around learning, inclusivity, and generosity, be sure to pick up one of their freezer or fridge meals today and attend one of their classes or utilize their space for an event in the future!
