Review
September’s Spice Madam box has got to be one of the best we’ve received since beginning in November 2018. The Zaalouk Eggplant Dip is such a good, savory pairing with the sweet, nutty Moroccan Bread (which we also dipped in the Harissa sauce that was used on the Harissa Roasted Carrots). The Harissa Roasted Carrots are a great combo of sweet and spicy, though not quite as flavorful as we had hoped. The Roasted Veggie Couscous and the Lamb Tajine fight to be stars of the meal – both delicious in their own way. The Roasted Veggie Couscous is packed with flavors, including a sweetness added by raisins and nuttiness added by toasted almond slices. The let down for me was the Ghoriba Bahla Sesame Shortbread Cookies. The taste is pretty typical of a shortbread – very buttery, a little nutty from the Roasted Sesame Seeds – but the texture is very much like Styrofoam or sand. Erik loves them, but I am not a fan.
