Review
We got to start off 2021 with a new Spice Madam box from North India! We already know that we love Indian food (see our review of our local Indian restaurant, Namaste, here), so we had high hopes for this box. While neither of us are mint fans, we loved the cilantro mint chutney, which had just enough mint to give it a freshness but not so much as to overpower the cilantro. The samosas came out pretty good, but were a little labor intensive so we probably won’t make them again. The naan, however, will most likely make it into our regular recipes because not only was it tasty, but it was so simple to make! We knew as soon as we made the second marinade for the tandoori chicken (yes, there were two marinades!) that it was going to be good. And we were pleasantly surprised by the aloo sabzi. The potatoes were so creamy that it was almost like eating mashed potatoes! Finally, the gulab jamun. We have ordered this dish from a few restaurants before and not really cared for it, but this version was actually pretty tasty! Not something we will make again, but still very nice to have a version of this classic Indian dessert that we actually like.
