The limited deals at Shaw’s this week don’t really lend themselves well to creating meals, so we suggest using what’s in your pantry and freezer. Maybe this means making a pasta dish with pasta and pasta sauce in your pantry, adding in some meat from the freezer. It may mean getting creative with canned goods, making a chili or soup. It could also include good old peanut butter and jelly sandwiches – which are not just for kids’ school lunches.
We’ll be looking through our freezer to see which meats have been in there the longest and need to be used up, as well as in our pantry for things that we haven’t used in a while to gain inspiration. Once we’ve picked out the meals we want to make, we’ll grab what few ingredients we don’t already have on hand from the grocery store, but we expect our bill this week will be much Lowe than other weeks given that we are simply supplementing what we already have as opposed to buying everything to make a meal.
