Pizza Challenge

If you’re getting sick of the same ol’ same ol’ and you like some adventure, you should try the pizza challenge.

The pizza challenge is definitely NOT for the faint of heart or for the limited palate. It is typically played with two people, but we have played it with up to 7 before. The premise is that each person buys an ingredient or ingredients that will become toppings for the pizzas. These toppings might be regular pizza toppings or they might be things you’d never dream of putting on a pizza. Then, you assign a number to each of the ingredients, and throw those numbers into a hat. Each person pulls out a pre-determined number of numbers out of the hat to determine what toppings will go on their pizza. It’s called the pizza challenge because, in theory, you win if you can eat the whole pizza (as some of them can get pretty gross). However, if you limit ingredients to regular pizza toppings, then you all win because they are all delicious pizzas. It’s a great way to try new toppings you never would think would work on a pizza.

Some toppings we have had as part of our previous pizza challenges:

  • In the above pizza on the left, there are:
    • Wasabi
    • Meatballs
    • Pickles
    • Pineapple
  • In the above pizza on the right, there are:
    • Sweet potato rounds
    • Banana slices
    • Sauerkraut
    • Green olives
  • Other, not-pictured rounds of pizza challenge have included:
    • Caramelized onions
    • Crispy fried onions (one of our favorite pizza toppings now that we had never tried before the pizza challenge)
