Waffles

Oh no! You really want waffles but you’ve run out of waffle mix. What to do? Make them from scratch, of course! Waffles are very simple to make and use ingredients you should already have on hand. (Check out what ingredients we always keep on hand here.)

These waffles are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and the perfect thing to start your day.

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 7/8 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • salt

Equipment

  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Waffle iron
  1. Whisk egg until frothy. Add the rest of the ingredients and whisk softly until just combined. Batter will be thin, almost more of a pancake batter than a waffle batter – this is expected.
  2. Cook on a preheated waffle iron until desired color is reached.
  3. Enjoy!
